Transcript:

I’m Florence Müller, I am an art and fashion historian. I am the curator of the exhibition, and I have worked with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to bring the intricacies of their thought processes to realisation.

In this exhibition there is a very original approach to Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, Alta Gioielleria, showcasing the extensive research done in the ateliers, from the heart to the hands.

This is truly a tribute to the meeting of ideas and craftsmanship, the creative passion that brings the designers’ desires to life.

The process of curating an exhibition is highly intricate. It begins with delving into history and archives, exploring what has been preserved, the heritage of the fashion house, and engaging in discussions with the designers, understanding their expressions and intentions.

"This is truly a tribute to the meeting of ideas and craftsmanship, the creative passion that brings the designers' desires to life."

What fascinated me was examining the clothes up close, observing all the intricate tailoring work and their sophisticated structure. Then, delving into the research on fabrics, colours, and embellishments that draw upon various crafts, from appliqué embroidery to glass embroidery.

That was my opportunity to understand their work, their intentions, and their aspiration to create beauty from within.

I believe Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are among the fashion designers most inspired by Italian culture and art, and those who represent it most faithfully.

The exhibition pays tribute to all those narratives, to everything that constitutes Italy’s cultural richness. It also demonstrates one thing: that the past is not dead. The past can be revived through Alta Moda
